DJ DAVE “GET WIT IT” is the new phrase for the new millennium. You need to “GET WIT IT” or get lost if you want to hop on this train.
Looking Back in Time…
After graduating high school in 2000, and pursuing a career in culinary arts, Dave didn’t have any idea that he would one day become an established DJ. He saw himself as having that 9-5 job, working in the hospitality industry after receiving his degree in 2002. But his love for music never faded since he listened to that 1992 hit song that every So So Def fan loved, “Jump” by Kriss Kross. At that point he knew he would have an extensive collection of hits to make his love for music grow.
After experiencing the college life in Sullivan, KY, Dave had to go back home and face reality in which many Americans did…work the 9 to 5. Doing food management for about a year Dave decided to pursue his infatuation for music a bit further. Buying his first mixer in 2003, there was no more ‘Dave’…it was now publicly DJ Dave a.k.a. “Mr. Get Wit It”. DJ Dave is the center of the “Get Wit It” movement that started back in 2003 along with Boogieman Productions. Following in the foot steps of two icons, DJ Screw and DJ Michael Watts, “Mr. Get Wit It” was learning the steps to successfully put a real mix tape together. As this skill came quite effortless for him, he then moved on to the next challenge…putting on a successful show. After, making numerous mix tapes for clothing stores, himself, and others, yet, still keeping the grind on the street selling and giving away cd’s, the real test was soon to come…Can DJ Dave rock a live crowd?
June 3rd, 2004 was the first official DJ Dave Showcase performance where “Mr. Get Wit It” earned his respect, taking it back to his hometown in Indianapolis, Indiana, a.k.a., Naptown. He then built up his portfolio DJing at: various spots in Atlanta, Duluth, and Decatur GA, Club Ice in Indianapolis, and Club Frequency at the Underground for ATL’s Birthday Bash, just to name a few.
Meeting people from allover the United States, he found his home with the Villionaire Status Records where he is the official DJ. Along with being affiliated with: The Marksment DJ’s, Dj Dave and his crew play a big part in the ATL Nightlife. Stay tuned and be on the lookout for a club near you,
